This is a hymn about the beauty of God’s creation. In each verse, a new color is added to create the full palette of creation.
From Where Do All These Colors Come?
The ebony of midnight sky,
without blemish, soft and pure
One shade restricts the painter’s eye
And so there must be more
CHORUS
From where do all these colors come?
What unseen hand paints the skies?
What brush could paint the universe
and all that in it lies?
So now the golden, glowing sun
adds luster to the hue
But when the gold and black were done,
the colors were too few
CHORUS
To the mix add leaves of green,
A forest filled with song
Though the canvas gains a vibrant sheen,
For colors we still long
CHORUS
To this the blue of cloudless skies
is added to the scene
Now rivers roar and mountains rise
But something’s still missing
The missing hue is crimson red
Blood shed upon a tree
Not for death, but life instead
New life for you and me
CHORUS
The hand of God paints the universe
and all that in it lies
